Body cellulite

Cellulite is a common condition that mainly affects women, although it can also occur in men. It occurs due to the buildup of fat, fluid, and toxins beneath the skin’s surface, causing a dimpled or orange peel appearance in specific areas of the body, such as the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. Although the exact causes are not completely understood, there are several factors that contribute to its development:

  • Genetics: Genetic predisposition plays an important role in the appearance of cellulite. If you have a family history of cellulite, you are more likely to develop it too.
  • Hormones: Hormonal changes can influence the appearance of cellulite. For example, during puberty, pregnancy or menopause, hormone levels fluctuate, which can affect the structure and texture of the skin.
  • Connective tissue: The structure of connective tissue and the distribution of fat in the body can also contribute to cellulite. Women tend to have more vertical connective tissue, which makes it easier for fat to move to the surface of the skin, creating dimples.
  • Lifestyle: Factors such as lack of physical activity, an unhealthy diet, alcohol consumption and smoking can increase the risk of developing cellulite.
  • Blood and lymphatic flow: Inadequate blood and lymphatic flow can contribute to the accumulation of fluids and toxins in the tissues, which promotes the formation of cellulite.
  • Age: As we age, the skin tends to lose elasticity and firmness, which can make cellulite more visible.
  • Dietary factors: A diet high in saturated fats, refined carbohydrates and sugars can contribute to fat accumulation and inflammation, which can worsen cellulite.

In short, cellulite is the result of a combination of genetic, hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors that affect the structure and appearance of the skin.

Although it cannot be completely eliminated, we have several protocols where we offer you techniques such as mesotherapy with substances that destroy fat and provide components that improve sagging; tension threads to redensify the skin, collagen biostimulators that help treat skin dimples with cellulite and devices such as bipolar radiofrequency, radiofrequency with microneedling (Morpheus 8), Bodytite® and macro and micro focused ultrasound (HIFU), among others to treat these conditions.

An assessment is important to determine the type of cellulite you have and design the treatment plan that best suits your problem.
